THE CHALLENGE

Multi-branded stores can be difficult to navigate at peak selling times, often leading to a negative experience for brands and customers if not executed correctly. Play was approached by The Fragrance Shop (TFS) to reimagine their existing stores and create the ultimate “future store” shopping experience for guests to discover their perfect fragrance on Oxford St, London.

OUR SOLUTION

Through extensive research, Play built a strategy that focused on creating impact for each fragrance brand whilst immersing customers in exciting new experiences. We introduced a series of digital technologies that helped shoppers identify their fragrances, including a world-first Algorithmic Perfumery that personalises scents in-store based on shopper preferences.

 

A ‘Trending Fragrances’ wall gives shoppers a lift-and-learn experience that educates them on the most popular scents of 2023, alongside interactive play-tables that reviews scent notes and similar products by lifting and placing select products onto the surface. As shoppers enter the flagship store, they are welcomed by a halo of LED screens displaying brand content, maximising the impact of their product campaigns. Key brands can apply their digital campaign content to take over the high-level screen band, the central launch zone and each digital pulse point table throughout the store.

 

The store’s interior is modern and stylish with areas dedicated to ultraluxury fragrances, personal consultations, product discovery and gifting. Traditionally, the TFS material palette is predominantly highgloss black furniture with our challenge being to introduce a sense of warmth and character. Our curved tables and counters were wrapped in a highly scratch-resistant, brushed bronze surface with antifingerprint properties that boast durability in interior applications subject to heavy use. We also introduced contemporary smoked oak decorative panels at the rear of the store to elevate the ultra-luxury area dedicated to fragrances of a higher price point.

 

By combining digital within a physical environment we have enabled TFS to increase the offering of their traditional multi-branded stores; creating a truly unique, fully immersive experience for customers.
